XMG Studios Introduces Inspector Gadget’s MAD Dash

    XMG Studio today announced the release of Inspector Gadget's MAD Dash 1.0, a new game for Apple's iDevices based on the iconic 1980s character and TV series. Everyone's favorite bumbling detective, Inspector Gadget, finds his way onto a new game for the iPhone and iPod touch.

    In Inspector Gadget's Mad Dash, you control the intrepid inspector as he dashes over roof-tops on his rocket skates, swings from cranes with his spring loaded arms, and flies through the air with the help of his umbrella hat in a race to save niece Penny from the clutches of the evil Dr. Claw. Along the way you must jump, dodge and avoid various obstacles, from benign banana peels so easy to slip on to high voltage power lines, dangerous pitfalls, and Dr. Claw's insidious bombs and missiles.

    Throughout the game, the player will collect G's - special coins that allow you to unlock bonus content at the end of the game. Bonus content includes a soundboard of classic quotes from the original hit show, a first look at pages from Viper Comics' upcoming Inspector Gadget comic book series, concept art from the game, and a scrambled image that reveals the face of the mysterious Dr. Claw once certain gameplay achievements have been met. The iPhone and iPad game, which also runs on Apples iPad device, integrates Apple's Game Center, allowing you to share your scores with friends and see how you do on a global leader board, while unlocking special achievements and awards.

    Apple Releases iOS 4.2 (with Airplay and Airprint)

      Apple today announced that iOS 4.2 is available today for download for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. iOS 4.2 brings over 100 new features from iOS 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2 to iPad including Multitasking, Folders, Unified Inbox, Game Center, AirPlay and AirPrint.

      iPad users can now run their favorite apps and switch between them instantly. Users can organize their apps with drag-and-drop simplicity using Folders, and Mail now features a Unified Inbox, fast inbox switching and a threaded message view.
      AirPlay is also available in iOS 4.2. It allows users to stream music, video and photos wirelessly from iPad, iPhone and iPod touch to Apple TV. iOS users also will be able to use AirPort Express and AirPlay to stream wirelessly to any stereo or powered speakers, or directly to AirPlay-enabled speakers coming to market in the months ahead.

      AirPrint is a next-generation Wi-Fi print architecture that dramatically simplifies printing by completely eliminating printer drivers. A selection of AirPrint enabled printers including the HP Photosmart, HP LaserJet Pro and HP Officejet will be the first to support printing direct from iOS devices. iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users can simply tap to print their documents or photos wirelessly to any printer that supports AirPrint.

      The Find My iPhone (or iPad or iPod touch) feature is now free to use without a MobileMe subscription and helps you locate your missing device. The Find My iPhone app is a free download on the App Store and lets users easily locate a missing device on a map and have it display a message or play a sound. Users can even remotely lock or wipe data from a lost device to protect privacy.

      Other new features that iOS 4.2 brings to the iPad include: the ability to rent TV episodes directly to iPad using the iTunes App with a 30 day viewing window and a 48 hour session window once playback is started; the ability to easily find and highlight specific words and phrases on web pages in Safari; enhanced enterprise support so businesses can take advantage of stronger security features, new device management capabilities and improved enterprise integration; industry-leading accessibility enhancements; and support for 25 additional languages, including Korean, Portuguese and Traditional Chinese.

      Availability
      The iOS 4.2 update is available today to download to iPad, iPhone and iPod touch by syncing the device with iTunes 10.1. iOS 4.2 is compatible with iPad, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, second and third generation iPod touch (late 2009 models with 32GB or 64GB) and new iPod touch. Some features may not be available on all products. For example, Multitasking requires iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, third generation iPod touch (late 2009 models with 32GB or 64GB) or later. The free Find My iPhone feature is available for iPhone 4, iPad or new iPod touch (4th generation).

      LargeViewer 1.0 for iOS Displays Documents Up to 10,000 x 8,000 Pixels

        Corporate Smalltalk Consulting, Ltd. today introduced LargeViewer 1.0 for iOS, their document viewer that accommodates very wide documents, up to 10,000 x 8,000 pixels, or larger. Ideal for examining 48-inch wide blueprints, detailed site layouts, or CAD drawings using an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, the app's Hippo View provides fast scrolling vertically and horizontally. LargeViewer reads over 50 different file formats, includes zoom in/out functionality, features Dropbox file download connectivity and management, saves files as thumbnails for quick view, supports multi-tasking, and opens documents from other apps.

        LargeViewer is designed specifically to overcome the two most common problems when using a typical document viewer to display very large documents on an iOS device: crashes and slow-downs. Due to its limited screen size, processing power, graphics hardware, and internal memory, viewing a 10,000 x 8,000 pixel TIFF using an iPad can be a frustrating experience. Scrolling slows to a crawl, zooming takes 15 seconds or longer. LargeViewer solves this, and handles the common PNG, JPEG, TIFF, and PDF file formats natively. Other common file formats are read, but require pre-processing before display. Because it supports iOS 4.x multi-tasking, any pre-processing may be done in the background.

        Engineering or Architectural drawing like ISO A0 (841 x 1,189 mm/33.1 x 46.8 in) or in the USA Arch E (762 x 1,067 mm/30 x 42 in), or the Large E size (915 x 1,220 mm/36 x 48 in), plus the more standard size of D1 (24 x 36 in) are usable and render instantly.

        LargeViewer reads all the following file formats: AVS, BMP, CUR, DIB, FITS, GIF, ICON, JNG, JP2, JPEC, JPEG, JPG, MAT, MIFF, MTV, MVG, PBM, PCX, PDF, PGM, PICT, PIX, PNG, PNG8, PNG24, PNG32, PNM, PPM, RLE, SGI, TGA, TIFF, TIF, TIM, VIFF, WBMP, WPG, SBM, and XPM. The app also reads some forms of the following: CALS, INLINE, MONO, OTB, PALM, PAM, PCD, PCDS, PFM, PICON, PTIF, RLA, SCT, SFW, SUN, and VICAR. iTunes may be used to import files into the app, or to export them from the app.

        Feature Highlights:
        * Document viewer accommodates very wide documents
        * Hippo View allows display of image documents up to 10,000 x 8,000 Pixels, or larger
        * Reads over 50 different file formats
        * Displays and paginates large PDF files
        * Dropbox file download compatibility
        * Acts like a USB memory stick
        * Responsive H/V scrolling and zooming through large documents
        * Sophisticated Cache Manager allows user control of cached files
        * Supports multi-tasking, allowing pre-processing to be done in the background

        A major convenience feature of LargeViewer is its Dropbox compatibility. The app has read-only Dropbox capability; it will never change or delete a Dropbox stored file. The app allows the downloading of any file, and then gives the user the option to open it using Preview, LargeViewer, or any other app. Similarly, LargeViewer need not be running to open a file created in another app. In addition, LargeViewer provides a sophisticated Cache Manager. This gives users complete control over files that have been stored in cache memory.

        Device Requirements:
        * iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
        * iOS 4.2 or later
        * 7.1 MB

        Pricing and Availability:
        LargeViewer 1.0 is $6.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Business category.

It is set to go head-to-head with Outfit 7's Talking Friends collection, most notably, Talking Tom Cat. By making use of the microphone and touch screen on their iDevices, users can interact with the Talking Gremlin by not only making him repeat words in his amazing little voice, but also through various touch gestures that will cause him to laugh, cry, growl and much more.

          * Laugh when you rub and tickle him

          * Cry when he gets hurt
          * Be forced to do something you may not like if you annoy him too much
          Notes and Requirements:
          iPod touch owners may have to put in earphones that have a microphone attached, otherwise the Gremlin won't be able to hear what you say. Animation smoothness will depend on the age of your device. 1st Gen device owners will get lower framerate.
